ABOUT PÚRÓGA PEBBLE ART
Dia dhaoibh, a chairde, is mise Rebecca
Welcome to Púróga Pebble Art, where small pebbles tell big stories.
Creativity is practically in my DNA. Growing up in Dublin as the daughter of artists, art wasn’t just a pastime, it was a way of life. That same creative spirit followed me to County Meath in 2001, where I raised my three children on a healthy dose of art projects, drama, costume making, and outdoor adventures. Through all those years of exploring nature, I found myself drawn to the ground beneath my feet, specifically the endless variety of stones and pebbles. I became captivated by how every single one carried its own unique shape, texture, and pattern.

In 2020, while working in retail during a period of huge uncertainty for so many of us, I found myself at home like many others. I had always enjoyed making handmade gifts and cards for family and friends, but during that quiet stretch of time, something clicked. I realised I could turn what I love into a real business. I took the leap to start shaping those raw stones into art, and that’s how Púróga Pebble Art started. At the heart of my work is storytelling. I take raw materials like pebbles, shells, and driftwood foraged along the Irish coast, and reimagine them into meaningful, one-of-a-kind keepsakes. I am deeply passionate about keeping the Irish language alive and incorporate Gaeilge throughout my business whenever I can…after all, Púróga is Irish for pebbles. Inspired by Irish culture, community, and everyday life, each creation carries a touch of warmth and heritage, often finished with a cúpla focal to bring authentic positivity into your home.
Running a one-woman operation can be challenging at times, but it keeps me reinventing myself, improving, and getting better every day. My days are a mix of morning admin work, coastal foraging walks, and afternoon creative flow at the frame. When I am at my workbench, hours simply disappear. There is nothing quite like taking a handful of natural stones and turning them into something that brings someone genuine joy.
Sharing that creative spark with others is just as important to me as creating the art itself. I regularly run community workshops to help adults pause and connect with nature through craft. I am involved with Arts in Education where I visit local schools to teach children how to look down at their feet, gather simple natural materials, and unlock their imagination to create wonderful ‘child led’ creative projects.
I am a proud member of the Design and Crafts Council Ireland, I receive great support from my local enterprise office, and regularly participate in Showcase Ireland and the Farmleigh Craft Market. Building this business has brought me into a wonderful community of talented Irish creatives, and it has been an incredible journey so far.
